At present, Dr.-Ing. Irfan Ahmed is working as an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at City University. Dr.-Ing. Irfan Ahmed has over 12 years of experience in the field of turbomachinery blade passage design and flow investigation. He has worked on aerodynamic measurement techniques as pitot tube measurement, hot wire anemometry, particle image velocimetry and piezoresistive measurement of aerodynamic and structural loading. He has also worked with computational fluid dynamics tools as ANSYS FLUENT, ANSYS CFX, FineTurbo and OpenFoam. Dr.-Ing. Irfan Ahmed has worked on numerical modelling of flow field within the blade passage and in far-field of flow through turbomachine blades and has developed a coupling scheme for the fluid-structure interaction simulation for turbomachine blades. Furthermore, he has worked on the numerical modeling of airfoil leading edge noise and trailing edge noise generation. Dr. Ahmed is currently working with design and conception of smart blades for energy conversion and for propulsion systems. His research activity includes thermo-fluidic design of MEMS sensors and actuators. In addition to his teaching and research activities, Dr.-Ing. Irfan Ahmed is experienced in the inception of Outcome Based Education (OBE) system. Dr. Ahmed has led the team of mechanical engineering Department of BAUST in developing laboratories, implementation of OBE curriculum and the eventual accreditation of its B. Sc. In Mechanical Engineering degree by BAETE, IEB Bangladesh under OBE system. Dr. Ahmed is currently working as the additional director of IQAC at City University. Before that, he had served as an additional director of IQAC of Bangladesh Army University of Science and Technology, (BAUST), Saidpur. Dr. Ahmed has worked as the director of BAUST Research and Development Cell. Furthermore, he has served as the additional director of BAUST Career Counselling and Placement Center. Dr. Ahmed also worked as an associate editor of BAUST Journal. He overlooked the development, design and installation of Fire Detection and Protection System at BAUST campus. Dr.-Ing. Irfan Ahmed was born in Dhaka, and has spent his childhood in Chattogram. He is fluent in English and German languages.
